    First edition in book form (Bradbury & Evans, 1853) in contemporary half-calf binding with gilt lettering to spine. Frontispiece, added engraved title page and 38 engraved plates, as called for. All first edition issue points present: "elgble" on page 19 line 6; "chair" on page 209, line 23; "counsinship" on page 275 line 22. Rubbing to boards, extremities and spine; unobtrusive previous owner and retailer labels to front pastedown; contents are very nice and clean save for some marginal browning here and there and quite isolated instances of foxing; corners of a few pages a little creased. A very good copy overall in contemporary binding.

Foxing to preliminaries with occasional foxing throughout; rubbing to corners and board edges and a couple of small areas of rubbing to boards. Small and neat owner inscription to front pastedown.

    The Jungle Book & The Second Jungle Book By Rudyard Kipling THE JUNGLE BOOK: First edition, second impression, published in June 1894, just one month after the first impression. Publisher's original dark blue cloth, all edges gilt. Gilt to spine and upper board is beautifully preserved. Slight spine slant and a little light marking to boards with some rubbing to spine tips and corners; very small and inconspicuous sticker to top corner of front paste-down; some cracking to binding, as is common, but all pages remain in place and firmly bound; light and occasional spotting, primarily to opening pages; free from writing and inscriptions. THE SECOND JUNGLE BOOK: First edition, first impression (Macmillan & Co, 1895). Publisher's original dark blue cloth, all edges gilt. Gilt to spine and upper board nicely preserved with a touch of darkening to spine; some rubbing to spine tips and corners; very small and inconspicuous sticker to top corner of front paste-down; upper board a little tender, as is common, but binding remains nice and firm; some foxing to front endpaper verso with light and occasional spotting here and there throughout. A very good set.
