By Daphne du Maurier
First edition, first impression (Gollancz, 1938). A slip signed, inscribed and dated by the author is loosely laid-in. Adapted on several occasions for stage and television with a further film adaptation due in October 2020.
Publisher’s original black cloth with lettering to spine and upper board in gilt. A very good copy with a little light marking to rear board, usual spotting to edges and, much more occasionally, to contents, primarily to preliminaries and closing pages; free from previous owner names and inscriptions. Some browning to the spine panel of the dust jacket with chipping to head and foot; closed tear to spine head; a little chipping to corners with a couple of small holes to upper panel fore-edge; moderate marginal toning to lower panel. A very good copy of a literary classic.
I Am Legend
By Richard Matheson
First edition, first impression (Walker & Co, 1954). Signed, inscribed and dated by the author to the front endpaper: '7/08 To Bruce - all best - Richard Matheson'. 8vo, publisher's white cloth, spine stamped in black. Light toning to edges. The original and unclipped dust jacket has a tiny nick to top edge and small 6mm closed tear to bottom edge of rear panel; very faint toning to spine panel. A fine copy otherwise. Famously adapted to film as 'The Last Man on Earth' in 1964, 'The Omega Man' in 1971 and 'I am Legend' in 2007.
