Dust jacketed first edition of J.G. Ballard’s “Concrete Island,” front cover design by Bill Botten.

Concrete Island

Concrete Island

By J. G. Ballard

First edition, first impression. London: Jonathan Cape, 1974.

Octavo. Original black cloth, gilt lettering to spine. Publisher’s original Bill Botten–designed dust jacket, priced £1.95.

A very good book: mild softening to spine ends, page block toned with occasional foxing, primarily to prelims, no inscriptions. Edges moderately toned with some spotting.

The dust jacket is also very good: rubbing and small chips to spine ends and corners, light creasing and a few short closed tears, flap edges lightly toned; complete and unrestored.

A very good copy of Ballard's mid-career classic, often regarded as forming an informal trilogy with 'Crash' and 'High-Rise'.
