Hickory Dickory Dock - First Edition by Agatha Christie
Hickory Dickory Dock
By Agatha Christie
First edition, first impression: London: Collins, 1955. Published under the title Hickory Dickory Death in the US in the same year.
Octavo. Original red cloth, spine lettered in black. With the original red dust jacket designed, lettered in black and white, priced 10s. 6d. net to the foot of the front flap.
A very good book. The cloth is clean and unfaded, with a firm spine and square boards. One moderate bump to bottom corner of upper board; light toning to the edges of the text block, as usual, with a little spotting; some off-setting and light browning to endpapers and paste-downs; the contents otherwise clean and sound, free from inscriptions.
The dust jacket retains strong colour with only a little fading to the spine panel, which is often encountered heavily faded. A small closed tear and hint of associated rubbing to spine foot, with no loss to the lettering; small nick to the top edge of lower panel; the price intact and the panels notably fresh for this title. Very good.
Hickory Dickory Dock is the thirtieth novel featuring Hercule Poirot, and one of Christie’s later Golden Age works to retain the classic English country-house puzzle in a contemporary post-war setting. A very good example of a popular Poirot title.
