Klara and the Sun is Ishiguro's eighth novel. The novel explores artificial intelligence, memory, love, and the limits of human connection through the perspective of Klara, an “Artificial Friend,” in Ishiguro’s characteristically understated and philosophical prose.
Klara and the Sun was longlisted for the Booker Prize and widely praised for its elegiac tone and humanistic themes, reinforcing Ishiguro’s standing as one of the most significant novelists of his generation. Film adaptation due for release in 2026.
