Life of Pi - Signed First UK Edition by Yann Martel
Life of Pi
By Yann Martel
First UK edition, first impression: Edinburgh: Canongate Books Ltd, 2002. Signed by the author to the title page.
Octavo. Original dark blue cloth, spine lettered in silver, publisher's device to foot. With the original illustrated dust jacket designed by Andy Bridge, priced £12.99 to the rear panel.
A fine copy: the binding is clean and square, the cloth fresh and unfaded, with sharp corners and a firm spine. Internally, the text is crisp and bright, the paper clean, and the book signed by the author in black ink on the title page, without inscription.
The dust jacket is also fine, bright and unfaded, with only the lightest traces of wear to the top edge.
A fine signed first UK edition of Martel's Booker Prize-winning novel, first published in Canada in 2001 and issued in Great Britain the following year by Canongate. Life of Pi went on to win the Man Booker Prize in 2002 and has since become one of the most celebrated and widely read novels of the early twenty-first century.
