First edition, first impression. Adapted into two films in 1989 and in 2019.

Original black cloth with lettering to spine and author?s signature to upper board in gilt with red endpapers and paste-downs. A near fine copy with extremely faint spotting to top edge and a few isolated instances of rubbing to edges.

The original and unclipped dust jacket has a tear to the spine panel foot with an associated tape repair to verso. Spine panel verso a little toned. Slight hint of fading to spine panel red lettering, otherwise excellent.
