Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves - First Edition by P. G. Wodehouse
Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves
By P. G. Wodehouse
First edition, first impression: London: Herbert Jenkins Limited, 1963.
Octavo. Original red cloth, spine lettered in gilt; publisher’s device blind-stamped to the lower board. With the original dust jacket, illustrated in colour with a stylised design of Bertie Wooster and Jeeves; price 13/6 net to the lower front flap.
The book is a very good example, the cloth clean and bright with minimal compression to the spine ends and a shallow indentation to the rear board, associated with that of the lower panel of the dust jacket. Internally, the text is clean and unmarked; some foxing is present to the top edge of the text block, with a couple of small spots to the fore-edge, not encroaching onto the margins of the pages.
The dust jacket is also very good, retaining strong colour and a crisp, unfaded blue ground. There is a noticeable but shallow indentation to the rear panel, with the associated impression visible to the rear board beneath. Minor rubbing and slight chipping at the spine tips and corners, with a couple short closed nicks at the head of the spine and a few marks to the lower panel; the price remains unclipped.
