Original blue cloth with lettering to spine in gilt. Spine a touch faded with a couple of spots and some toning to edges, otherwise very good or better.
 
The original and unclipped dust jacket is, similarly, very good, with some toning to spine panel, moderate rubbing to edges in places and a crease to the top of the upper panel.
 
The Ascent of Everest is the official account of the 1953 British Everest Expedition, led by John Hunt, culminating in the first confirmed ascent of Mount Everest by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay on 29 May 1953. It remains one of the foundational works of 20th-century mountaineering literature and an indispensable primary source for the history of Himalayan exploration.
