The Haw Lantern - Signed First Edition by Seamus Heaney
The Haw Lantern
by Seamus Heaney
First edition, first impression: London: Faber and Faber Limited, 1987. Signed and dated by the author in the year of publication.
Octavo. Original red cloth, spine lettered in silver. With the original dust jacket, featuring a repeating typographic design with central panel and haw lantern motif.
A fine copy, the binding square and firm, with bright cloth and sharp corners; slight toning to the edges of the text block, as noted, otherwise internally clean and fresh. Signed and dated by the author on the front free endpaper, “Seamus Heaney / 25.VI.87,” and additionally signed on the title page.
The dust jacket is fine, unclipped, with no notable fading, creasing, or wear; an exceptionally well-preserved example.
A distinguished copy of one of Heaney’s most celebrated collections, published in the year he was awarded the Whitbread Book of the Year and shortly before his Nobel Prize.
