Original full salmon-pink morocco, handbound by Zaehnsdorf, the spine lettered and decorated in gilt, the covers framed by a double gilt fillet with gilt floral ornaments at the corners, the upper cover with a central gilt vignette of Christopher Robin with Pooh and Piglet, all edges gilt. Line illustrations throughout by Ernest H. Shepard. Housed in the publisher's card slipcase.
 
Signed by Christopher Milne on the limitation leaf. A couple of very shallow and unobtrusive indentations to the top of the lower board, else near fine or better, in a fine slipcase.
 
The House at Pooh Corner was originally published by Methuen on 11 October 1928 and was the last of the four Pooh books. It introduces Tigger and the game of Poohsticks, and closes with the chapter "In which Christopher Robin and Pooh come to an Enchanted Place, and we leave them there". Methuen issued the present edition on the fiftieth anniversary of that date, in 300 copies handbound by Zaehnsdorf and signed by Christopher Milne (1920–1996), the author's son and the original of Christopher Robin; a comparable anniversary issue of Winnie-the-Pooh had appeared in 1976. Milne had by then published The Enchanted Places (Eyre Methuen, 1974), the memoir which takes its title from the closing chapter of the present book and which, by his own account, allowed him to step out of his father's shadow. He kept the Harbour Bookshop at Dartmouth from 1951.
