The Spy Who Came in from the Cold - Signed Limited Edition by John le Carré
The Spy Who Came in from the Cold
By John le Carré
Signed limited edition: Fyfield: Oak Tree Press, 2008. Number 85 of 124 numbered copies bound in quarter cloth, from a total edition of 150 copies, signed by John le Carré to the title page. The remaining 26 copies were lettered and bound in full leather.
Octavo. Publisher’s quarter red cloth over boards covered in hand-marbled paper by Ann Muir, the spine lettered in gilt and the front board bearing a printed paper title label. Printed in red and black on Mohawk Superfine acid-free paper. With a tipped-in frontispiece portrait of le Carré by Stephen Alcorn, signed by the artist in pencil.
A fine copy, without the publisher’s slipcase. A finely produced edition of the opening three chapters of le Carré's classic espionage novel, with a preface by the author. Published to support children affected by HIV/AIDS. The red cloth and typography deliberately recall the dust jacket of the novel’s first edition, published by Victor Gollancz in 1963.
