Under Milk Wood - First Edition by Dylan Thomas
Under Milk Wood
By Dylan Thomas
First edition, first impression: London: J. M. Dent & Sons Ltd., 1954.
Octavo. Original tan cloth, spine lettered in gilt. With the original green dust jacket, printed in black within a ruled border, priced 8s. 6d. net to the upper corner of the front flap.
The binding firm, with slight compression to the spine ends and light rubbing to the lower edges; a little dustiness to the top edge and a couple of small spots to the fore-edge. Internally clean and sound, a very good copy.
The dust jacket very good, with a few small chips to the top edge, a closed tear to the top edge of the lower panel with some associated abrasion, and several minor nicks; the spine panel a touch faded, the verso of the flaps moderately browned.
Thomas’s “play for voices,” first performed for radio shortly after his death, stands as one of the most celebrated works of twentieth-century Welsh literature.
