A selection of six of du Maurier’s finest tales of the strange and unsettling: Don’t Look Now, The Apple Tree, The Birds, The Blue Lenses, The Alibi, and Not After Midnight. Each story is accompanied by a full-page colour illustration by Michael Foreman. Published by Victor Gollancz, du Maurier’s long-time publisher since the 1930s, this edition was issued in 1987 — the year of her 80th birthday. It unites some of her most famous short works, some of which inspired acclaimed film adaptations: Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds (1963) and Nicolas Roeg’s Don’t Look Now (1973).
