Philosophical Investigations
By Ludwig Wittgenstein
First edition, first impression, of one of the most significant philosophical works of the twentieth century, edited and translated by G. E. M. Anscombe. Published posthumously two years after Wittgenstein’s death, Philosophical Investigations marks his transition from the early logical atomism of Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus to his later philosophy of language and meaning.
Original dark blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt. With the original pale green dust jacket printed in red, priced 37s. 6d. net on the front flap. Parallel text in German and English. Errata slip tipped in before the title page.
A near-fine copy in the very good or better jacket, some toning to the spine with a few tiny nicks to spine head and a closed tear to the bottom edge of lower panel. Cloth bright, contents clean and crisp. A uniquely well-preserved example.
