First UK edition, first impression. Winner of the 1961 Pulitzer Prize.
Original burgundy cloth with silver lettering to spine. Very slight spine slant. Previous owner name to front endpaper. Some toning and moderate spotting to edges and to preliminaries and final leaves, though contents are otherwise nice and clean throughout.
The original and unclipped dust jacket has some rubbing to folds and hinges with a few chips, nicks and tears, primarily to spine head and some spotting and toning to verso. A very good copy overall, featuring the attractive cover art by Fratini.
