    The Grapes of Wrath

    , , ,
The Grapes of Wrath By John Steinbeck First UK edition, first impression published by William Heinemann in 1939. A highlight of modern literature and the winner of the National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize. The Nobel Prize committee cited the novel as one of the main factors that led them to award the prize to Steinbeck in 1962. Original light blue cloth with lettering to spine in gilt. A very good or better copy with some toning to edges, a little peripheral spotting to front and rear endpapers and paste-downs, soft crease to bottom corner of front endpaper, traces of rubbing to bottom edge and a small dark mark to bottom edge of lower board, else clean and sharp both internally and externally. The original and unclipped dust jacket has a little rubbing in places, but is otherwise a near fine, beautifully preserved, bright and clean example.

The true first edition, preceding that of the UK and the US. Winner of the Arthur C. Clarke Award and more recently adapted into a successful TV series. Quarter-bound in maroon cloth with cream boards and white lettering to spine. A fine and clean copy with some of the seemingly always present rubbing to the spine ends. The Karla Trilogy: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Honourable Schoolboy, Smiley’s People

    , ,
The Karla Trilogy By John le Carré A complete set of first editions, first impressions of the three books comprising the Karla Trilogy, all of which bear the cut signature of the author affixed to the front endpaper or half-title. The Honourable Schoolboy shows some rubbing and chipping to edges, most notably to spine head. Very good overall.
